Swim
Comments: Definitely started in the wrong place. First tri so I wanted to stay towards the rear. Kept running into other swimmers. Did a lot of breast stroke which was slow. Flipped over to do the backstroke when I had open water. Must have worked because I kept catching up to other swimmers. Then I had to flip to freestyle to pass usually between 2 swimmers. What would you do differently?: Start closer to the front and try to only do freestyle!! Plus not take a month off from swimming right before the race. Transition 1
Comments: Was tired after the swim so it took a minute before I started running to the transition area. Feet weren't dry enough so I had a hard time getting my socks on. What would you do differently?: Either roll my socks or put powder in them. Or try riding without socks. Bike
Comments: I had done this ride once before and knocked 5 minutes off of that time. I'm very happy with the bike. Had no problem with Mt. Albert. Passed a lot of other riders and only got passed by a handful of people. Got slowed up on a couple turns because I couldn't get around slower riders. What would you do differently?: Try to get in front of slower riders before turns. Transition 2
Comments: Did pretty good getting everything off and my running shoes on. Started running for the run out and someone yelled you don't have a bib. Had to run back and put my racing belt on. What would you do differently?: Not forget to put the racing belt on. Maybe put it on during T1. Run
Comments: Clearly running is not my thing. Didn't stop to walk as much as I had when I ran it over the summer. The sprint back for the racing belt didn't help any either. What would you do differently?: Train harder for the run. I had done plenty of bricks and got faster in the running each time but still need lots of work. Post race
Warm down: Water, water, water. My husband was waiting for me at the finish line with water, the only thing he had to do:) Waited in line for 45 minutes for the post card then gave up. Was getting hot and a little dizzy. Needed food other than what was there. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training in the run and not swimming for a month prior to the race. No excuse for the swim when I have an endless pool in the basement. Going away for 3 1/2 weeks before didn't help either. Event comments: With this being my first tri I was very happy with my time. I was shooting for 2 1/2 hours and beat that by 15 minutes. All the volunteers were great!! Especially the one who noticed that I was missing my bib:) I'll definitely do it again next year and try and get down to 2 hrs or less. The event I thought I'd do the worst at I did the best (biking). The event I thought I'd do well in I did bad in (swimming) and I love to swim and swim pretty well. Running, well I just plain hate running but I'll work on it for next year. Last updated: 2009-09-02 12:00 AM

Had bike inspected a week before race. Day of racking noticed both tires were starting to split between the red and black rubber. Had to stop by Princton Sports and get new tires on the way. Racked in between rain showers. Stayed at a hotel nearby (live an hour and half away). Didn't sleep well at all. Got up at 5:00 ate a cinnamon waffle and chocolate milk. Got to Rt. 108 around 6:00, should have gotten there earlier. Ended up parking on the side of the road which wasn't so bad. Got my transition area setup and hit the port-a-potty. Then just walked around to the swim start and waited.
None.
