Swim
Comments: Decided early to break up the swim in quarters to see if I would be able to complete a full mile. The strategy worked out quite nicely. I did take breaks between each set but I tried to keep them below two minutes. After the 1/2 mile, I allowed my HR to settle down before starting the next quarter. What would you do differently?: Swim straight through with more speed. I am getting there after months little to no swimming. Post race
Warm down: No warm down really. I completed some stretches while still in the pool then headed for the showers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of pool time. I am just getting back into swimming and just starting to feel smooth and comfortable in the pool. Event comments: I did this swim for Dime and Julia. When I thought that I might stop, I just thought about the two of them and all the work they had in front of them. This kept me going because you know what, all I had to do was swim! Today, my pre-race consisted of preparing side dishes for a party that we attended following the swim and the boys visit with his mom. Drove to the north side of town and dropped off the boy, then headed for the gym.
