  • 01m 02s / 100 yards
Transition 1

Comments:

I thought I did well here.
What would you do differently?:

run faster to the exit....I had a long way to get out of the bike coral.
Bike
  • 36m 10s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 20.62 mile/hr
Comments:

I went out pretty hard...legs were burning on the hills just before the turn around....I almost hit a deer right before the turn around too...that kinda freaked me out. The tun around was through a church parking lot that had not been paved in what looked like 50 years...Pot-holes everywhere. It seemed like there was a little tail wind coming back and my legs began moving back to me.

One of the volunteers directed me away from the finishing turn...so I ended up starting back again on the start of the race...I think the volunteer thought I was one of the Olympic racers who was starting their 2nd lap...anyway...I ended up having to cut across a couple of parking lots with people and cars diving every which way...I also had to jump off my bike and carry it across 2 medians and enter the wrong end of the bike coral...
What would you do differently?:

take it easy on a couple of the turns....I cornered so hard the one time...I hit my petal on the road and about bit it...That would have sucked!!!
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

I entered the wrong end of the bike coral...since the volunteer directed me the wrong way...so this cost me some time...maybe a minute or so.
What would you do differently?:

take a better look at the course and not listen to a volunteer who doesn't know what they are doing...LOL
Run
  • 22m 10s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs actually felt pretty good...I had some left in the tank...because I thought the person behind me would push me at the finish line...but they didn't.
What would you do differently?:

Run a little harder in the middle.
Post race
Warm down:

walked and stretched a little

What limited your ability to perform faster:

time invested = performance

Event comments:

1st time these people have ever run a triathlon....great venue...but totally lacked organization...everyone just kept waiting for someone else to do something...there seemed to be no one-person in charge...everyone just kept deferring decisions to everyone else.

Could be a great race...but they need someone to step up and take charge.

Swimming
00:08:31 | 820 yards | 01m 02s / 100yards
Age Group: 1/15
Overall: 6/113
Performance: Good
Swim portion of the race was canceled due to the BAD weather...waves were 3-5 foot, with winds coming out of the North across Lake Michigan. When we arrived at the race...the storm over-night blew in all of the buoys, so they substituted the swim with what they called a 1 mile run, which actually turned out to be more than that...probably 1.25.

Course: easy, flat run...but the road was shared with the bikes...so it kinda got hairy at times....there was no-body at the turn around to direct you...so the runners in front of me were the ones who told us to turn around at the water station...when I got there...there was a volunteer directing people.
