Swim
Comments: Overall conditions were good. Decent start but swam in traffic the whole way. I was not pleased with my performance in the swim. Goal this year was to do the swim in 16:00 and missed that by a mile. This swim was 11 seconds SLOWER than last year !Need to spend a lot more time in the pool working drills to improve my technique. What would you do differently?: Count bouys better for pacing. Lear to drafr more efficiently. Pick spots to weave through traffic smarter. Transition 1
Comments: Tired from the swim and it takes me a long time to get my socks on. Also stopped to drink which was really not needed only for the little rest it gave me. This was a bout 52 deconds faster than last year though. What would you do differently?: But Tri bike shoes, Don't drink. Bike
Comments: I did not push very hard on the bike wanting to save a bit for the run. Although my run was good (for me) I think I was too conservative. I stayed in the saddle the entire race and did not puch mu pace up on the flats. The bike time was only 2 seconds faster than last year although I am sure my overall bike fitness is much better than last year. What would you do differently?: Push the pace a bit harder. Power over the tops of the hills even if it meand standing to keep cadence up. Transition 2
Comments: This could have been better. Took a while to get out of my shoes for some reason. also stopped to drink again. What would you do differently?: I think tri shoes would come off easier. Could wear number to cut the time to put on belt. Run
Comments: I hit my goal at running a 10:00 min per mile pace. The start is very difficult for me with a lot of pain in the knees. First mile pace was 11:14 and things sped up a bit from there. What would you do differently?: Not sure I can run much better than that. I cannot train very often due to the knees issues, but perhaps I can try to retain present fitness levele into next year Post race
Warm down: Water, chocholate milk and socialized with friends and family What limited your ability to perform faster: Physical issues with my knee that cannot be resolved. Up at 4:00, double checked race check list. Quick breakfast of just a cup of yogurt and a banana. Drive was about an hour where we arrived in plenty of time for the race, but not early enough to select a "perfect" place in transition.
Not much just kept moving a bit. Set up[ transition and got the wetsuit on.
