Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 24/51
Pre-race routine:

Gagged down a piece of ww bread thinly spread with pb. Drank some gatorade. Got to the transition area and snagged an end site for my gear. Tried to relax and froze waiting for the race to start.
Event warmup:

Not much.
Swim
  • 23m 8s
  • 800 yards
  • 02m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

Our local pool is closed for a month so I haven't been in water for a long time. Took a bit to get comfortable again, but settled into my slow and stead side stroke. Loved all the swim angels there watching over us.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more before the race.
Transition 1
  • 05m 11s
Comments:

My transition area was quite far from the swim, a long slog on floppy legs, but no trouble finding my bike or getting the wetsuit off.
What would you do differently?:

Perhaps be a bit better at swimming so I have enough juice left to run to my bike.
Bike
  • 48m 3s
  • 12 miles
  • 14.98 mile/hr
Comments:

Enjoyed the bike quite a bit. Gorgeous when going over the bridge. I think this is my first triathlon (of the 4!) that I didn't have to stop and walk at any point. Forgot to zip up my light windbreaker which I didn't really need anyway. Next time leave it behind, or if I really need it ZIP it up.
What would you do differently?:

Get better at my gearing. Still making mistakes and shifting up occasionally when I want to downshift.
Transition 2
  • 02m 13s
Comments:

No problems.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 39m 23s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 12m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

So much encouragement from the other women and the fabulous volunteers. I usually hate running, but thanks to the comradery and better training I really enjoyed this one.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on the run, seeing improvements each race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking back to the car. Had to get to the final Yankees/Mariners game!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not knowing how to crawl.

Event comments:

I enjoyed this race the most of any I've done. So many supportive volunteers and other athletes. It is cheesy, but the women-only triathlons are just "nicer!". It is interesting though, with the much wider range of abilities I did find it a bit harder to push myself then at races where almost everyone is faster than I.
