Swim
Comments: I have been really swim focused the last 6 weeks since I couldn't really run and it has payed off huge. I improved my time from the last tri by over 2 minutes and left the pool feeling very comfortable. Forgot to start my watch, so I really had no idea how fast or slow I was going. What would you do differently?: Maybe swim a little harder. Felt like I maybe took it a little bit too easy. Start my watch. Transition 1
Comments: Untimed transitions. T1 and T2 times are added to the bike leg. Had a little trouble getting my shirt on. Didn't dry my feet so they turned into ice cubes during the ride. What would you do differently?: Have my watch started so I can time the transitions. Take the time to dry off so I can be comfy the rest of the day. Bike
Comments: In addition to not starting my watch at the swim start, the magnet for my bike computer got knocked sideways so I had no time or speed on the bike. Started off easy- I have a tendency to go out to hard at the beginning of a ride, so I made it a point to try and go easy. Got passed by an expensive bike about mile 3, so I decided to keep up with him for a while (100 feet back-no cheating!). Followed him for the next 12-13 miles then decided to hammer it home from there. Still couldn't eat anything. Wanted to have a gel at the beginning and end of this ride, but only managed about half of one throughout the whole ride. What would you do differently?: Should have stopped and fixed the computer so I could pace better. I could have ridden this @ 22mph, but was somewhere around 20. Transition 2
Comments: Time added to bike time. The rack I was on was total crap and completely collapsed when I racked my bike. Luckily only one other bike was on the rack. Lost a little time picking up the pieces. Went ahead and left my helmet on to start the run again- idiot. Had to run back to trans. and drop it. What would you do differently?: Get to race earlier so I dont have to rack on the crap rack. Take sports drink on the bike in case I can't eat anything. Run
Comments: Should have felt better on the run after the leisurely bike ride, but the first step hurt as bad as the last. I was severely undertrained for this run due to injury and it showed. Just kept moving forward and got faster each mile. Last mile was somewhere around 7 minutes. Achilles actually felt fine all race which was a miracle! What would you do differently?: Just more run training. I have the ability to be much much faster on these runs. Needed some more calories too I think. Post race
Warm down: Short jog. Tried to eat, still wasn't happening. Layed on the bleachers for a while. Watched a buddy of mine finish AFTER me!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Like always, need more miles in the running shoes. Event comments: Lots of volunteers. Courses well marked. Officers at every intersection. Don't have a lot to compare this to, but thought it was ran very well. Last updated: 2009-09-09 12:00 AM

Swim didnt start until 8:50 so I got to sleep in till 7 which was nice. In hindsight, I should have gotten there earlier for a better transition spot. Couldn't eat anything for some reason. Finally got half of a banana down just before starting.
Jumped in pool.
