Swim
Comments: To get to the first Yellow buoy was good. Then current must have taken 2nd orange buoy out a ways because we had to make turn at the orange buoy. Sun was coming up and hard to spot 2nd yellow buoy. Then made left turn toward shore and then current pulled down stream. Had to to focus on orange buoys becase hard to see the shore with sun coming up. What would you do differently?: Stay closer to buoys. Transition 1
Comments: Transition long to get to TA. Thought about taking off wetsuit at shore but just wanted to keep moving. Took off wetsuit in TA and hydrated during process. Sunglasses had fogged over with morning dew but just sprayed with extra water bottle and put on helmet and head out. No socks. Shoes clipped into bike. What would you do differently?: Clean off feet and put shoes on before exiting. A lot of grass clippings on feet. No bother during ride though. Bike
Comments: After wiping grass clippings (while riding) off of feet and feet into shoes, got up to 20 mph and stayed around there the whole trip. Great ride not a lot of traffic. Felt really good. Rode easy for first 25 miles, then picked up pace on last leg. What would you do differently?: Hit a little harder, but could have trained a little harder on this sport. Transition 2
Comments: Great transitison. Socks and shoes on feet. Grab the hat and the number belt. Shot of water and out of TA2. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: The run is the tough part of the triathlon. I tried to save a little from the bike but still did over 9min/mile. I felt like Bill Murray calling me "Rudy the rabbit" going through the trail runs. Lots of support and aid stations. What would you do differently?: Train harder. Pushed a little more in the mid miles. Post race
Warm down: Got my ice towel and medal and headed for the water tent and sat down and stretched. Got something to eat and went back to the aid tent and put ice on calves and quads. Hydrated. 3 hour ride home to Reisterstown, MD, lots of breaks for pee and stretch What limited your ability to perform faster: First Half. Not sure what to expect in body performance. I think I did great with the way that I trained. Event comments: Great course and race. Last updated: 2009-09-09 12:00 AM
