Pre-race routine:

No real routine but there should have been. Make sure you grab ALL your gear before leaving!
Drank some coffee, ate a couple of Fiber one pop tarts and a power bar about 30 minutes before the race.
I got to the site about 20 minutes before the race started because I had picked up my packet the night before, met a couple of friends and talked before warming up and enjoyed seeing someone I knew for the first time in 3 years of running this race.
Event warmup:

I took a couple of laps around the parking lot. I would estimate about a half mile then stretched out and jumped around until the gun.

Comments:

I had no Garmin HR monitor to help me pace myself because i left home without it (this I kicked myself over). I was able to pace fairly well despite feeling naked with out my "running partner" (my Garmin). I never felt really winded on any part of the course including the hills but they were a lot more work than I am used too. I had enough left at the end (.25 miles) to rapidly increase my pace to a near sprint at the finish. In the end not having my Garmin probably affected my finish because I might have pushed a little harder through the race but I was quicker this year than the other 2 years running. I am satisfied with my performance.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure I have all my gear! Pace a little harder than I did today but more importantly I would like to get the the race venue a little sooner than 20 minutes before gun time.
Post race
Warm down:

Some fast walking but I should have walked longer. I ran into my PT and talked to him and asked him some run related questions. Good conversation.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My lack of my Garmin.

Event comments:

Hats go off to the organizers this year. This was the first year that the packet pick up was allowed the night before. This greatly streamlines the start of the race. The 2008 race was at least 15 minutes late getting started because of the number of unregistered participants and the pre-registered picking up their packets.

Performance: Good
Forgot the Garmin at home. I was kind of brain dead or something.
Course: A very nice course with some minor hills. They were all fairly short but some of them had a pretty steep grade that was challenging me and the normally flat routes I run. Most of the course is through the Lindenwood Cemetery that the Univ. of St. Francis CC team practices in. The first time I ran this course I thought it was weird to run through a cemetery but it didn't bother me during the race.
