Run
Comments: I was in a large cluster of people who did a much better job trying to keep thier pace under control than I did. I was itching to run for 15 minutes before the gun and when it went off I wanted to charge off. As I began to notice what my watch was telling me I was glad that I was trapped in a cluster. I was doing about a 7:45 pace and I knew I needed to take about a mile to get warmed back up. After the first mile holding back some, I upped my pace to the goal pace (7:30) and I was able to hold it for most of the race. I had a couple of laps where I was under the target but all of the laps were very close. I had a couple of times where I wanted to back down because I was getting tired and worn down. I grabbed some clif shot blocks about mile 3, mile 9 and mile 11. I used my Accelgel at mile 7. I think the these kept me from getting to much out of my race plan, even if it was pyschological. I actually think these were a little to much. I didn't have any physical problems from them but I felt just a little full or something. I can't really describe it. Overall I felt very good about the race. I feel like I ran the way I wanted to the whole way. I used some other people to help me pace after seeing them stay consistantly in the same pace zone as I was trying to stay in. It made it much easier for me to keep myself on track. The last mile of the race I was able to get my pace under 7:00 minutes. according to the watch it was 6:56. This last mile was very very challenging. I didn't think I would make it without having to slow down. This seems to tell me that I had run a very well planned race at a very challenging pace for me, probably exactly where I should have been. What would you do differently?: The only thing I can think that I would change would be the time I arrive. If I were to arrive sooner I would have had a better warm up and maybe a slightly better time because of the warm up. Post race
Warm down: Warm down? Whats that? I just walked around. After about 10 minutes I layed down on the ground and proped my fefet fup on a tree to allow some blood to flow out o my legs. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Well if anything, a fear of over doing it early. But I think it was well planned. Event comments: Some other friends ran a very good race too. They PR'd too. Last updated: 2009-09-10 12:00 AM

I kept everything as normal as possible. My usual yogurt with granola and craisins for breakfast. I only had one cup of coffee so I wouldn't have to worry about going to the bathroom for the whole race.
My normal warm up didn't happen. We left the campground late and I didn't have a lot of time to ge ready.
Basically I jogged about a qtr. of a mile and then stepped the pace up slightly until I felt my HR getting up, then I kept going for about another qtr. of a mile. The they announced the runners needed to report and the corrals needed to close.
