Pre-race routine:

Up early, cup of coffee, and protein drink. Packed car, had sandwich on the way. Sipped GU2O all the way to the race.

Comments:

A good swim. Found open water, was able to get through people easily, and little activity around the buoys. Sighting a bit tougher on the way in (sun in the eyes.)
What would you do differently?:

Need to swim more, but time wise this was one of my better swims of the season.

Long run to T1. Speedplay pedals have a lot of float so I have to be careful putting my foot in the shoes....easily slip off.

A steady ride, always in control. It felt good to do more passing than being passed. Only passed by 5 people. Pulled back a bit when it got too hard. Used cadence for speed instead of gears.

Comments:

I really felt my legs here. Just wanted to be steady. Followed one athlete who was running at a pace I could hold. Then passed him at the 3km mark. Slower than previous races, but steady effort.
What would you do differently?:

Not mountain bike two days before the race.

A nice way to end the 2009 racing season. Will leave me with good information about what I need to do for IM OZ, and good feelings about my accomplishments this year.
A solid 2009 short course season. Good events, good effort, and solide results.
