Comments: Swim cancelled due to poor visibility. The fog was pretty bad in the morning but it cleared up later on the bike. Transition 1
Comments: Ran up from swim finish to transition area. Did this barefoot, which bruised the balls of my feet. What would you do differently?: Stage shoes at the swim exit, or work on barefoot running. Bike
What would you do differently?: I need to do more long rides or intervals at race pace to help avoid the cramping I had in this race. Transition 2
Comments: Had to hit the bathroom here, or it would have been quite a bit faster. I also stretched out the gluts trying to work out the cramping from the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing this was a good transition. Run
Comments: I couldn't maintain my goal pace. I ran the whole way except to fill the water bottle at a couple of stations. I was pleased with that, but bummed that I didn't do it at my goal pace. What would you do differently?: Do more longer bike/run bricks. Post race
Warm down: walked and stretched on the beach. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cramping on the bike, hurt both the bike and run. Event comments: This turned into a duathlon. Got up at 4:40. Shaved, ate a pb and honey sandwich, with coffee. Walked my stuff down to transition when it opened at 5am. Ran back to the motel room and finished getting ready.
Did a mile run warmup from the motel room. Then got my wet suit and walked down to transition to make sure everything was ready. Put on the wet suit then headed to the mandatory meeting at the beach. Waited for a long time, but the swim was finally cancelled.
