Swim
Comments: Once again was seeded too low and passed more than a few people. Would have had a bit better swim, but on the last turn some dip#### who I passed decided that it would be a good idea to dunk me and force feed me a mouthful of water. #######. Anyway, despite that I rocked it. During the whole swim I was pretty much not wanting to be there. What would you do differently?: Flip turn the last turn to try and beat the guy who clobbered me. Feel a bit better so I could push a bit harder Transition 1
Comments: Was seeing stars after the swim and definitely didn't push the transition. There was a ~100 yd run to the transition area. Not long. Fumbled with my socks. What would you do differently?: Go into the race a bit healthier. Try to ditch the socks. Bike
Comments: I still need work here. I posted here last week that my target was to beat 20mph. Well, about halfway through the bike I came to a corner where my sight was blocked by a van traveling with the racers. There was no signage at the corner and one park ranger posted on the other side of the street before the turn. Noone in front of me to emulate, so I blew through the turn. Lost 2:33 on the mistake (love my 305 so I can track these things). I don't regard this as my mistake and am actually not too happy with the lack of intersection control here. No excuse for no signage. Other turns were very well marked. My times posted are altered to remove the extra 3/4 mile I rode. What would you do differently?: Not take a wrong turn. I suck at getting back up to speed once I crest a hill or once a steep hill degrades into a shallow hill. I'm gonna be working hard on the bike this winter - me and the trainer are gonna be best buds. Transition 2
Comments: Went down wrong isle, which cost me a couple seconds. Other than that, fine. Instead on putting my race belt on I held it in my mouth and ran out of transition with it - saved a couple seconds. What would you do differently?: Get my aisle right. Run
Comments: This was soooo much better than the first one. I felt better aerobically. This time was :45/mile better than last time, and this run was much hillier. Very pleased with this performance. My limiter here of all things was my hip flexors. They were really unhappy with me. Aerobically I think I could have gone faster. Another in a long list of items to tackle - how to strengthen my hip flexors. What would you do differently?: Dunno - considering that 8:00/mile would be a dream finish and how this course was quite hilly I am terribly pleased with this run. Post race
Warm down: Sat down, drank water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being under the weather. By mile 4 or so on the bike I was feeling better, but I don't think I biked up to my potential. Hip flexors. Event comments: Better intersection control and signage on biking corners. Last updated: 2009-09-13 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30. Wife got the kids going. Had a Hardees breakfast (which was excellent). Pumped up tires - latex tubes really do lose air quick. The back wheel with wheelcover was a challenge since I had no crack pipe.
Note the overall ranks are for male participants only.
Swam 200 yds. Ran 1/2 mile. Was not feeling very well, so even now this was somewhat of a struggle.
