Swim
Comments: This was an odd swim for me. I felt like I was just out for another training swim by myself. I stayed off the buoy line away from the masses, and just cruised along. Almost thought I was off course, but I was doing ok. What would you do differently?: Spend a little more time on my wetsuit. My left arm was tired, and it was because I hadn't pulled it all the way up! It was like swimming w/ resistance bands on one arm! Transition 1
Comments: Shoot... A minute w/ taking a wetsuit off, and getting on the bike.... I'll take it anyday!!! What would you do differently?: NADA Bike
Comments: I had a good ride. The bike was working, the legs were working, and it was good going. I was suprised by the amount of hills that were out there, but that was my own fault, which almost turned out to be a blessing. I think if I were to have known the hills, I may have been more conservative just because of the hills, but since I didn't know, I just had to get up them. What would you do differently?: I would probably like to know the bike course before I go. It is good for the mind! Transition 2
Comments: Under a minute... I don't think I could have gone any faster than this. I was happy.... What would you do differently?: Nada Run
Comments: I was pushing it today. This was an all out effort on the run, and the run was crowded sharing the course w/ sprint racers (who ran 1 lap) and the oly races (that ran 2 laps). But personally it was a great run. I saw my wife out there who was a couple miles behind me, but a 1/2 mile (due to the laps) and I had the hammer dropped trying to catch her, and mantain a good race (but she was running 7:37's so I couldn't get to her! What would you do differently?: Nada! Post race
Warm down: Cheer on others, talk w/ friends, and volunteer at 1 of 2 water stations they had on the run course. It was actually pretty pathetic how minimal the aid stations were. God please the 2 people that were at the 2 tables. They were busting their butts!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing today! I left everything on the course. The only thing that may have slowed me down were the beers my wife kept feeding me the night before (ended up being 3). But this was a good day for me ALL AROUND! Event comments: Not a good organization. It is like they charge just as much as other events and pocket more money! No swag, terrible aid station, and food at the finish was minimal. I could even find a water when I was done! GHETTO! I would understand it is was paying less money, but it is comparable to other events around here, so I would expect the same amount of organization! I wasn't impressed (and this was the 2nd time I raced one of their events--- The other one sucked as well!). Last updated: 2009-09-13 12:00 AM
