Pre-race routine:

Spent 3 full days at the parks, including making it on stage at the American Idol Experience.

Sleep was disturbed by jerks in the rooms above us.

Woke up at 3 AM. Scrounged for food around hotel room. Got my travel mug filled with coffee. Bless the Disney folks for having the coffee out at 3:30. Took the bus to the staging area.
Event warmup:

Walked the mile or so to the start. Listened to the people yap on stage and did a little active stretching and danced to the DJ's music.

I started about 15 feet back from the dozen or so elite runners.

Comments:

I went for the 4:00 but wasn't ready for that pace over 26.2. I could have nailed a 4:10 to 4:15 if I had set out at a slower pace. Stepped on some uneven pavement and rolled my right foot out. Felt it all of the way to my psoas muscles. My foot swelled and it hurt like heck. More importantly, it was discouraging, and I had trouble focusing on my run. It really took the spring out of my step.
What would you do differently?:

Start walk breaks earlier. Be careful around the edges of the roads.
Post race
Warm down:

Went to medical tent. It was frigging cold in there. Got ice on my foot. Went to massage tent. Couldn't enjoy massage b/c there was no heat in there either. Two therapists basically climbed on my to get my body to stop cramping and shaking from the cold. I would have been better off just jumping on a warm bus right after the race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think that I need to do a couple of 22+ mile runs. Also, some speed work.

Event comments:

Great on course support. Great crowds. Engaging course.

No real party after the race, unless you coughed up some MORE $$ for an evening at Hollywood Studios.

Course: Flat with overpasses and underpasses making most of the hills. Through the parks and backstage areas. Mixed surfaces from cobblestone to aggregate. Some off ramps were extremely angled. Most of the race was on wide roads, but certain areas were really tight. I was one of the slower runners that far up, so I ran unencumbered.
