Swim
Comments: Goal Time: 16:00 Real Time: 19:05 It was very choppy and real hard to navigate or even breath and I am sure we were against the tide too, all swims were slower than normal. I went wide of the Blue Buoy, thinking it was there for safety as it was attached to a damn pylon, only to get bloody whistled at and made to swim back to it and in between it and the pylon. That added at least an extra 50-75 meters. What would you do differently?: Go to the race briefing and listen to the swim course. Transition 1
Comments: Fairly good, it took maybe 10 secs to get wetsuit off. Definitely glad I wore it for the swim and will do in future. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Felt good. Bike
Comments: Goal Time: 40:00 Real Time: 39:25 I took it easy on the way out, sitting on about 42km/hr, the wind was REAL strong. I got passed by a few then but I passed and left them behind on the way back. The headwind was for 3/4 of the bike. I pity the long course guys. I thought my ride was quicker. Oh well. What would you do differently?: I paced myself fairly well and on a calmer day, I would have smashed this course. Transition 2
Comments: A bit slow today getting off the bike and putting shoes on but still a good time. What would you do differently?: I need to practice jumping on and off my bike. Run
Comments: Goal Time: 24:00 Real Time: 28.02 I was really ill when I took off into the run, 500m down and I walked for a minute thinking I was going to hurl. I walked another 2 times before I got to about the halfway point where I did stop and have a good old puke in the bushes. Not a good feeling. I nearly pulled the pin, there and then. When I was done I felt better, maybe a bit dehydrated and a bad taste in my mouth but better. Didn't push too hard but ran comfortably enough. What would you do differently?: This was the first time I took a gel before a race, I usually eat a bar. The gel probably wasn't a bad idea but I didn't wash it down with anything. Was this the culprit making me ill? Dunno. TBC. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: No prizes in guessing where I lost time today, I am disappointed and had hoped for a 1:15.00 to 1:20.00. Lucky its not a State Series Race. I WILL however redeem myself at Rockingham in Dec. Event comments: No water stop on the 5km course, not good. Last updated: 2009-09-17 12:00 AM

OK, the ice-breaker for the new season!
I must admit, nerves were a plenty going into this one, my training has gone well over the last month or so and I am slowly getting faster.
