Swim
  • 08m 8s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

My watch actually said under 8. Probably just mat placement. Passed one woman in lap 8 or; she'd been passed at least once already. Nobody anywhere near me from the rear.

Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

Put shoes on and ran, rather than trying flying mount, since it's a short way to mount line. Worked fine.

Bike
  • 38m 12s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 19.48 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride, aero all the time, never came out of the big ring. Really nice having closed lanes.
What would you do differently?:

My big disaster of the race: Thought that dismount was coming into parking lot, not at the end of the lot. So I got out of my shoes early. But real problem was that as I was riding atop shoes, one foot slipped off. Shoe unclipped, had to stop and run back for it. Then other came off, so had to run quite a ways with bike and shoes in hand. Probably cost me 90 seconds. Not enough to change my AG finish overall, but might have put me into top 10 overall.
Transition 2

Run
  • 23m 27s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run. Never had a weird feeling coming off the bike. Saw guy ahead to start, caught him more quickly than I thought I would and just hung with him. Was already thinking at 2k this was a guy I'd have to outsprint at the end. But I dropped him soon after that. Passed a few other people, and only got passed once or twice.
Post race
Warm down:

Hanging with friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike dismount/shoe error.

Event comments:

I know some of the event organizers, and really hope to talk with them about improving some details, such as having bike/run cross each other too often. I think there are some easy solutions.
