Swim
Comments: I should have placed myself at the front of the line. I wanted to go much faster than I was able. A wall of people in front of me when I really got going. Too hard to go around. I swam fast than many in my wave and was able to pass lots of people - so different from my Oly a few weeks ago. Was shocked to get out of the water and see 6 minutes on my watch! Had to run to the transition, this time was added to the swim, or I will assume it is as my offical time was 7:13... What would you do differently?: Place myself in the pack so I can swim fast!!! Transition 1
Comments: My feet were NUMB. Decided to wear socks this race as I got huge blisters in the Oly. Very hard to put on socks with numb feet. This definitely slowed me down. What would you do differently?: Don't wear socks. Bike
Comments: The course was hilly. But I was ready from all my training. Kept a good pace. The course was packed with people. This was a huge race. Passed lots of people. Especially on the hills. Feeling really good at this point, although I still could not feel my feet throughout the whole bike! End of the bike was poorly managed as there were cars, bikers and runners beginning the run and ending the run going at the same time. This def made me slow down. Every bike race I am feeling better and I think I could be a force to be reckoned with next year!!! What would you do differently?: Be more confident in passing people. Be more confident on the turns. Transition 2
Comments: Numb feet made changing shoes tough. Run
Comments: I felt great! So good that I probably could have ran faster and placed in my age group. The fear from my Oly run was with me, and this held me back a little. I had my legs right away though. During my Oly I did not have my legs until mile 5. The positive words from the other runners kept me running fast and I passed many people. Yay! What would you do differently?: Run faster!!!!!! Post race
Warm down: Walked around with hubby. Drank water, cheered on some finishers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fear, numb feet. Lack of awareness of my own speed. If I had any clue I was within one minute of placing in my AG, I would have run faster!!! Event comments: This race was so big. There were so many people! I did this race three years ago and it was much smaller. What I love about Sprints is the spirit of the race. So different from the Olympic! This helped a lot. I am a little upset that I did not even know what a competitive race time was. If I knew I probably could have placed. I did this race to end the season, and did not approach it as a serious race. Too bad! Last updated: 2009-09-19 12:00 AM
