Pre-race routine:

Jogged from home to school to register for race. Nice t-shirts to first 100 registrants. Hubby was 99th registrant! I think there were 106 total. About half and half men and women. The athletic director ran, the high school football coaches ran. Many teachers ran. It was a great community!

I have not been doing any speed work, and didn't decide to run this race until that morning. I felt good on the run - I was pushing comfortably hard... Not too hard, but not too easy.

Event comments:

This is a fund raiser for high school XC team. The team members may not race it but they organize and work it. Excellent food afterwards! They screwed up the timing a bit, and the results in the newspaper had my time wrong. They mixed me up with someone else so they reported my time as 28 minutes rather than 26:18.

8:20 first mile according to kid with stop watch. That sounded about right, but I don't think I slowed down much after that.
Course: the only hill is the one in front of my house!
