Pre-race routine:

This was my first relay. Arrived early, found Jess and Sue and met our runner. hanging out, getting checked in. Liquid nourishment b/c I get the butterflies before races and can't eat.
Event warmup:

swimming out around the water, waves are high at the break.

Comments:

did great sighting wise this time. I started front and wide right. nice since the current was coming in towards the left. Everyone was bunched up on the left. I saw an orange cap in front of me and gave chase, caught her and beat her. Then I just sprinted all out to the T area screaming "SUE!" I probably scared/embarassed her....
What would you do differently?:

uh, not much. Bring a cooler with water and cokes- had to stop at store I was dozing off on the ride home b/c of lousy fountain drink from Hess station. Nasty!!
Post race
Warm down:

walked around watching sue take off and listen to one of the relay guys trash talk a 10 year old relay member waiting for his run. It was all in good fun. He got his payback when he couldn't find the run out andhad to double back through the transistion area!

Event comments:

I didnt' get to see the courses, but I saw the run out was on sand and happy I didn't have to do the whole shebang. Run back to T was long. I just stayed to the end of the rope where the sand was packed. Little bridge I had to slow down on for fear of slipping. Broke my momentum.
