Pre-race routine:

Need to get to race earlier. Barely had time to get through the HUGE potty line and set up my transition area.
Swim
  • 15m 38s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim! Lined up to the closer to the outer side. I sprinted into the water this time in hopes to get some clear water in front of me. I swam straight out instead of angling toward the first buoy. Glad that I did...didn't have to manuever around anyone for the first portion. At the turn someone swam over my back, but otherwise it was incident free. I caught up to a lot of guys in the wave ahead of me. The water was very crowded at the final turn to come into shore and I "scooped" a couple people out of my way.

The run on the sand to transition area was torture! So LONG!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing! This was my favorite part of the day!
Transition 1
  • 03m 31s
Comments:

Still need to work on shaving time off here. I wasn't well organized due to the long potty line before the race.
What would you do differently?:

Get the pull ties for my shoes so I don't have to take the time to tie them. Make sure my watch is ready.
Bike
  • 41m 3s
  • 11 miles
  • 16.08 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought I did great on the bike, so I was bummed to see that I dropped from 13th in the swim to 26th on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

I HAVE to learn better cycling techniques!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

They don't show our T2 time. I know it was fast because I simply took off my helmet and racked my bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing...it was great!
Run
  • 32m 23s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

I am such a slow runner. The first 1/2 mile felt terrible. I was thinking to myself how stupid running was. I had a pretty bad side stich. I'm not sure why since I didn't really drink on the bike. I watched people pass me on the run but I just didn't have it in me to keep up with them.
What would you do differently?:

I need to spend the winter learning to run faster.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to learn more about bike racing.

Event comments:

I enjoyed the race and am looking forward to doing it again next year.

Course: I like the amount of hills and flats on the course. I didn't like having two loops, though. Some of the fast guys really flew past (which is great) but on the narrow parts it was nerve-wracking.
