Swim
Comments: First triathlon so the swim was everything I expected it to be. There were people everywhere and on top of me! Didn't panic though because the race director held an open water clinic several weeks before that prepared me for being swam over. Used the people around me as a guide to make sure I didn't veer too far left or right. Almost ran into a kayak though. Maybe I should do a little more sighting. Overall I was pleased with my first swim. Very happy with my breathing. Didn't really notice the rain. What would you do differently?: Sight more. Transition 1
Comments: Because of the aforementioned rain right before the race and during a portion of the swim. All my transition gear was soaked. This threw me off a little bit as I contemplated wearing socks or not. I ended up going with socks since I had never trained without them. I really need to work on getting clipped in. The mounting line was facing uphill so you had to be clipped in to get going. What would you do differently?: Cover my shoes and socks with the plastic bags I had brought. Bike
Comments: The bike is my weakest of the 3. However, I never felt like I was exerting too much energy. I was definitely paranoid about the wet surface. Saw at least one guy wipe out. I felt good with the ride but would like to get in the 20+ mph pace for my next race. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: This transition went smoother than I expected. I probably lost a couple of seconds as I contemplated taking off my soaked socks and running in bare feet. I kept the socks. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I wish I had seen the course the day before. It felt like the first mile marker was never going to show up. When it finally did, it felt like the race was taking forever. However, I felt like I had a good pace and was concerned during if I had started too fast. I definitely did better than I thought so I guess my pace was ok. I was disapointed though wen the guy running in flip flops passed me. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and then got some food in the tent. Relazed a little while with my wife and friends. But it was cut short by the torrential downpour. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was my first race so I didn't have a base line. My goal was to finish under 1:30 so I wsa happy about that. I think I could have gone faster if it was dry. Event comments: Denise and her group did a great job with the 2nd annual Tri2Remember. With this being my first race I had no idea what to expect. I appreciated the clinics so much. Last updated: 2009-09-22 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:30 and ate 2 hard boiled eggs. Got to transition around 6:30 and set everything up. Made the mistake of leaving everything exposed to the elements because it wasn't raining at the time. Rained hard from about 7-7:45 which meant all my shoes and socks were soaked when I got to T1. Rookie mistake.
