Swim
Comments: The course this year was a lot longer than last year. We were swimming against the current and the wind. The start seemed to be more chaotic than normal. I wound up backing off and letting the field break up, and then passing a lot of people. What would you do differently?: Perhaps starting farther forward in the field may make sense. Transition 1
Comments: No complaints with 14th place on T1. What would you do differently?: Nothing at all. Goal T1 time was anything less than 60 seconds. Bike
Comments: I was surprised at the number of folks that couldn't seem to grasp the concept of keeping to the right. Came on at least 2 rolling road blocks where people wouldn't allow passing. Eventually, I followed suit with others and crossed the yellow line to pass. I was also having some issues with my rear derailleur. This didn't effect my speed, but it is a good reminder of the importance of doing a pre-race gear check. What would you do differently?: Pre-race bike function check. Transition 2
Comments: I need to have someone video tape my T2. I don't know where the time goes in the transition. I thought it would have been in the 30 second range. Run
Comments: As is apparent, my run still needs a lot of work. 4 minutes faster than last year. I felt like it was really humid, and that I couldn't cool off. I was fortunate to have another athlete push me to keep running for the last 3/4 mile. What would you do differently?: I need to get a running coach before next season. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: My running. Event comments: The event started a little late because of issues with the swim course. Great turnout for a great event. I will definitely be doing this event again next year. Last updated: 2009-09-23 12:00 AM
