Run
Comments: First couple miles were very crowded. I settled in and just tried to take it easy. I knew I had a long way to go. I was feeling good until about mile 9. It was basically uphill the whole way. Then mile 12 was uphill too. That took it out of me. I haven't done much hill work at all and my legs started to hurt. I hit the 13.1 mile mark in right around 1.52.00 and I knew I was running well. By the time I started down the road into Wash Park, I was hurting. I was looking for my Bride and the gang. They were going to meet me at Wash Park because we did two laps through the park. Finally saw the munchkin man come out of the crowd at about mile 17. He ran with me for a bit. Then when I looped around I saw my Bride. I stopped and walked with her and the munchkin man through the aid station drinking some gatorade and getting a needed boost in confidence. I got re-energized and pushed through the rest of the park. By the time I hit mile 22, I was toast and started walking more. The last couple miles, we were running on concrete in the sun with no shade and the temp was 80 degrees. I was overheating bad. I pushed on and finally saw the finish. I kicked it the last quarter mile and was very glad to cross the line. What would you do differently?: train more Post race
Warm down: food and water, sitting in the shade What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of long runs, and lack of hill work Event comments: Great race. I definitely have a new respect for the 26.2 crowd. Last updated: 2009-09-26 12:00 AM

Got up and had some breakfast. Woke up the munchkin man and my bride and we drove to the venue.
Nothing. Just gave hugs and kisses to my family. I figured I had 20 miles of warm up coming.
