Pre-race routine:

Got up, made porridge and ate it with a bit of honey, also a big glass of water and a banana about an hour before the race.
Event warmup:

Jogged about a mile total with some stretching.
Run
  • 13m 16s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Paced myself pretty well, but could've picked it up a little bit earlier on in the run. I didn't want to overcook it too early.

What would you do differently?:

Not much, it actually went pretty close to plan. Maybe kicked it a bit harder earlier, but I was right about the pace I wanted to run.
Transition 1
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

The T1 time wasn't great, but I wanted to make sure I got everything right (and I did). Previous Du's I've messed something up in transition that's hampered me later...so today I had my act together and did everything I wanted to do.
What would you do differently?:

Practice to do it faster!!
Bike
  • 27m 27s
  • 10 miles
  • 21.86 mile/hr
Comments:

I also didn't have a speedo on my bike for the entire ride...I forgot to check the sensor to pickup gap...more fool me!

I went out at over 23mph average but ended up just a shade under 22. Not what I wanted to be at, but not far off - 0.5mph roughly.

Passed a few, got passed once...not bad.
What would you do differently?:

Just more training.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Exactly the same approach and the same time in transition as T1...consistent!

My bike did fall over and I had to pick it up after racking...not good!
What would you do differently?:

See above
Run
  • 14m 21s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

It was hot! Just didn't get it going the way I wanted to but did pick up a couple of places and not lose any...I guess everyone was feeling the heat!
What would you do differently?:

Bricks, bricks and more bricks...bricks do the trick!
Post race
Warm down:

Drinking some gatorade, beer and water...ate a banana.

Walked for about 10 mins.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My butt cheek! Yesterday, while trying to demonstrate the finer points of shooting at soccer, I tweaked my right glute! Not a good thing to do and it gave me a little trouble through the race.

Event comments:

The race got going on time and was well put together. There was a bunch of hanging around after the fact though prior to prize-giving.
