Swim
Comments: I think I remember seeing 8:10 on my watch when heading into T1, but I'm not really sure. The timing equipment not working is a real drag as I would have really liked to have seen this info. What would you do differently?: Not sure I would change much with this swim. I got through the initial waves quite well and did a pretty good job spotting. Transition 1
Comments: Again, really wish they had my time for this, but I did not have a good T1 at all. I really struggled getting my wetsuit off. I did put Glide on my ankles before I put my wetsuit on, but it didn't seem to help. This was by far the worst T1 I've had in my short career. What would you do differently?: Not struggle getting my wetsuit off. Bike
Comments: Definitely was happy with my ride. The wind was a serious factor on the way back, but I pushed it pretty hard. What would you do differently?: Get a tri bike...which will be here in less than 90 days! Transition 2
Comments: Different story for my on T2. I hopped off the bike still going quite fast and cranked through T2. I got my Zoots on, love those things, quite quickly and was very happy with T2. What would you do differently?: Can't think of anything. Run
Comments: Pretty happy with my run. I was hoping to finish the run in under 20 minutes, but I'll take 20:36 with the wind and considering it was a beach run. I definitely pushed it hard What would you do differently?: Give it a little more gas at the end. I didn't have much left in the tank at the end, but I think I could have stepped it up a little at the finish. Post race
Warm down: Hung out with Rob, Adam, and their families waiting for my Dad. I got a little worried about him and started jogging back down the beach to find him, but he was really close. I ran to him and then ran most of the way back with him until he went up to the finish. Nice work Pop! What limited your ability to perform faster: I think a tri bike will help a little bit and the wind was an issue, but everyone had the same conditions... Event comments: I really had a lot of fun at this race. It was awesome to have all my training/NM (North East Multi Sport, coming soon!) friends and my Dad racing. Rob made the event extra special with his late start/going with the wrong wave. Its definitely too bad the timing didn't get documented, but thought it was a great race overall. Got to the race pretty early, but my routine was a little different because the race was so late in the day. I ate more than I normally do which worked out fine.
Ended up doing a couple warm up jogs. Went out with Adam the first time and we stopped to stretch for a bit, but didn't really stretch as well as normal because the ground was all wet.
Once I got my wetsuit on, I swam maybe 25 yards out and then back with Rob.
