Swim
Comments: Waited around almost 2 hours for my group to start the swim. I'm not sure if I swam an extra 50 or 100, as nobody was counting my laps, and I forgot my lap counter. What would you do differently?: Wear my lap counter. Transition 1
Comments: When I put on my sunglasses, they got water on the lenses. I lost around 15 seconds clearing them. The soft pads on my helmet seem to have lost their attraction to velcro, so I had to mess with them while putting on my helmet. What would you do differently?: Dry my head before putting on my helmet and shades. Bike
Comments: I don't know if it had something to do with going from a warm pool to cold air, but I didn't feel right for the first 5 or 6 miles. I felt great the last 5 or 6, and ok for the middle 5. Transition 2
Comments: Someone racked their bike in my spot, so I lost a bit of time trying to make room. Should have thrown some body glide on the heels of my shoes, as I couldn't seem to get in. What would you do differently?: Glide up the back of my shoes. Run
Comments: As usual, my run was bad. My right calf started cramping 100 feet into the run, and I did a bit of walking for the first mile and a half. After that, I was running at my normal, slow pace. The powerade and coffee from the morning were not mixing well. Felt good for the last mile. What would you do differently?: No coffee on race morning ever again ... WTH was I thinking? Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I decided to do this race at 8pm the night before, so I wasn't well prepared. Event comments: The race had a seeded pool start, with the slowest folks going first. A lot of these folks were swimming 20 minute 500s, which contributed to a very long wait. It was nice to get to hang with a bunch of guys and chat, pre-race, but standing around waiting was tough. Overall, a good event with a lot of great folks. Last updated: 2009-10-01 12:00 AM
