Pre-race routine:

Got up around 6:15am. Was excited and ready to go race. Ate a cliff bar, some cereal and a powerbar. Started drinking water as soon as I woke up.
Event warmup:

It was in the 40's at the start of the race, just tried to get warm. Bought a throw away long sleeve cotton shirt that I wore for warm-up and a few miles of the race. Stretched my quads a little, that's about it.

Comments:

Ended up at the back of the pack for the start. When the race started, everyone's time started as well. It took right at 40 seconds to actually start moving from the back. Had to dig out of the 40 second deficit but the run went well. Averaged in the 8:55's for most of the course, a few times was down into the 8:30's and even 8:15's but overall stayed in te 8:55 range. Once I got to the 10 mile mark I was worried I may slow, but my pace really stayed good. I had some more gas in the tank but my goal was to break 2 hours. Since I was on pace to break 2 hours, I didn't try anything silly. I didn't want to hit a wall and not be able to make the finish.
What would you do differently?:

I forgot to wear sunglasses and should have started closer to the middle or front. I'd rather get passed then have to pass a bunch of people. Other then that, I'm very happy with the race I ran.
Post race
Warm down:

My kids and wife were at the finish line, so right after i crossed the line I found them and gave them hugs. That was about it for a cool-down. I need to do a better job of this on future races.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still need to drop some excess weight. 20 lbs lighter would have been GREAT! That and get more milage under my belt is about all I can think of.

Event comments:

This is a really fun race. Not much to do after the race but they did have a kid's fun run and 8k race as well, so something for everyone. I will definitely run this one again.

Performance: Good
Course: Rolling hills on this course. Starts off going down hill, then back up then felt like rollers the whole way. The last half mileis heartbreak hill. It's uphill for the entire last half mile. Feels like your legs are going to explode, then it does level off for the last 100 or so feet. Overall a good course with tons of volunteer's.
