Swim
Comments: I started out well and ended strong, but I lollygagged way too much in the middle What would you do differently?: push it up a notch Transition 1
Comments: took my time to get HR back down and get ready to ride....futzed around with my race belt as some genius decided to put the number on backwards....I mean how is that even possible? I think my college wants their degree back. :( What would you do differently?: other than regenerate my brain not much Bike
Comments: This was a course ready to be taken advantage of, and I just did not get it done. Overall an average ride, but I should have averaged a lot faster. I was passing a ton of people and fell into the trap of thinking I was doing better than I actually was. Lots of people were riding 3-4 abreast and I almost ate a cone once due to trying to make a pass through all of the traffic. No one in the group of four seemed to want to pass the others. I also took a snot rocket to the face from an elderly gent (67 on calf)....my fault for not yelling "on the left" I guess What would you do differently?: duck mucus and train more, if I'm going to rely on RPE to make me go faster. Transition 2
Comments: ran all the way to the main transition area, then walked to spot What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I knew this was not going to be a comfortable run, so after the first mile, it was run a minute walk a minute for the rest of the run. I was shocked with that strategy I was in the 12 minute range. That means I lost "only" 18 minutes of a potential best time....still gotta do better though What would you do differently?: stop walking and start running....lost my mojo after RI. Post race
Warm down: MIST TENT....felt good to go in there and just veg a bit. I had to go home so I could watch the kids while Lauren went to a concert (Rick Springfield and Air Supply....I think I would have rather done another tri than go to that). I was in the car within 15 minutes of finishing, so I did not get to enjoy the post-race festivities. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of motivation/training in the last month Event comments: absolutely top-notch race by CGI...as normal. volunteers were plentiful and very helpful. outstanding on-course hydration for the run course.
