Pre-race routine:

Did have one - this was my very first race. While waiting for my scheduled start time, I was able to watch many of the other athletes go through T-1 and T-2 which was very helpful.
Event warmup:

I was able to swim a few laps in the warmup pool before my starting time.
Swim
  • 04m 38s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 51s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

More accurately rank myself for starting time
Transition 1
  • 01m 58s
Comments:

Tri shoes instead of bike shoes would help. Forgot to reset my bike computer after my last ride!
What would you do differently?:

Tri shoes & no socks. RESET BIKE COMPUTER
Bike
  • 30m 50s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.46 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall I think I could have pushed myself a little harder on the bike if I had to do it over again. Didn't really want to go super hard and then have nothing left for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Push just a little harder
Transition 2
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

Good transition EXCEPT for the fact that I took way too long trying to put on my gps/HR monitor watch while standing still.
What would you do differently?:

Next time, forget drinking water in transition, get it on the road, and RUN while putting on the watch!
Run
  • 23m 33s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

I was carrying a water bottle for the first 1.5 miles because there was nowhere to throw it away - didn't need it. Next time don't bring one, plenty of water along route. Happy with my pace in spite of the water thing though . .
What would you do differently?:

Got chaffed on the armpits during run - use body glide next time. Drop the water bottle - no need to carry.
Post race
Warm down:

Lots of munchies & fluids. Had a banana and some gatorade.

Event comments:

This was my first triathlon and I had a great time! I'll definitely do more. I beat my goal for time, and my other goal was to have a good time and enjoy the experience, which I did. Looking forward to the next one.
