![]() Swim
Comments: Good swim. I would have liked to have had a top 5 age group swim, but considering I havent swam since Labor Day and I ended up passing 6 people, I will take 7th in AG. I caught the guy in front of me just after the first lap and passed him in the second half of lap 2. I just swam my race and had to slow to get in position to pass people, usually at the wall several times. What would you do differently?: Put down a faster time for seeding. I put down 1:45 and should have put down 1:30. This is such a short swim (250) I dont train for this race after my neighborhood pool closes. ![]() Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Hurry the *&))## up. ![]() Bike
Comments: The bike started off rough. At dismount I tried a running leap and slid right off the seat. I put my right foot down to stop from falling over and pushed back up. Then my left foot slid right off the pedal and I stumbled off the bike and on the curb. My bike hit the ground. I took a few seconds to relax and get my breath. When I started rolling, I realized my back tire was rubbing my brakes. Took a couple of seconds to work that out, then was on my way. I dont wear a HRM, but I am sure, it would have been off the charts in the beginning. Rest of the bike was fine. I was surprised at my avg speed, I thought It would be higher. Then again, if you see the holes in my training log, it is no surprise. What would you do differently?: Not fall over when getting on the bike???? Would that help?? Train more. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Decent spot in TA. Equal distance from bike entrance and run exit. What would you do differently?: Practice transition. ![]() Run
Comments: I am not a fast runner, but for the life of me, I dont know why my tri run times are about the same as my stand alone 5k times. The course was ok, I did stop to walk the water stations. And let me say, warm water on a run course is not very pleasing. What would you do differently?: Need to do longer runs. Work on speed....hmmmm, this is starting to sound familiar. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Had a bottle of water and a couple of bagel bites and cinammon rolls. Yum. Got my stuff together and saw my buddy TJ who also did the race. Left in time to see my sons 10:45 baseball game. What limited your ability to perform faster: Holes in my training log. I have to admit that with one race a month since May, it has been tough to push training. I have a decent base from which to build, now that my season is over. Event comments: I did this race last year as my first tri ever and shaved 9 minutes off my time from last year. I plan on making this a must do every year. Volunteers were great, great cause, and a great course. Last updated: 2009-10-05 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5 ish. On the drive up to the race site, ate a Poptart and had a Diet Pepsi to drink. I know it is not the best pre race meal but....it was all I had. My wife had been out of town and my son had a baseball tournament the day before so, I hadnt been to the store, so I went with what I had.
Not much of a warm up. Just light stretching.
