Swim
Comments: Overall my swim time was great! I still feel VERY uncomfortable with this portion of the race. I swam competitively when I was younger, but open water swimming is a completely different beast! My anxiety levels at the start of the race always plays havoc with my breathing, need to work on getting into a rhythm. Still cut about 1 minutes from my first race a couple of weeks ago! What would you do differently?: MORE open water swims!! I'll also have to get my endurance up. I spent a large amount of time doin the backstroke. Transition 1
Comments: Transition went well. It was my first time with bike shoes and I felt very fast! The wet suit came off with no problems! Walk/ran to the bike mount :/ What would you do differently?: RUN the whole transition! Bike
Comments: I still need a LOT of work on the bike. I really think I can gain a LOT of time on the portion of the race. The course was a bit more hilly than I would have liked. I NEED more time in the saddle. I still cut about 1.5 mins from my first race and that race had ZERO hills! Felt good, but know I can push more. What would you do differently?: MORE time in the saddle and figure out the nutrition part of racing. Transition 2
Comments: Felt good about T2. Bike shoes came off smoothly and running shoes slipped right on. What would you do differently?: not sure...still figuring out the transitions of Tri racing! Run
Comments: Walked too much :/ I need to build my endurance and not walk as much. I was a runner for a long time, so I know it is there somewhere, just have to train more. I was about 1 min slower on this race than my first. What would you do differently?: LONGER training runs Post race
Warm down: Did a bunch of stretching! Drank a bunch of water and ate when I got home. Sounds like I missed some good stew :( What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm still new to the sport. I improved by about 4 mins, but I think most of the improvement came in the shorter transition distances. I need to train more. I'm looking forward to the next season of racing! :) Event comments: The race was fantastic. Setup runs a smooth race and I have enjoyed starting my Tri "career" with them! I look forward to taking part in their events next year. I might even jump to my age group next year!! :) Last updated: 2009-10-05 12:00 AM

Woke up about 7:45 am and ate half a bagel w/ PB and then had a banana about 1.5 hours before the race. Arrived at race about 8:30 am and set up transition area. Got chip and body marks and just did a little relaxing for about an hour before the start of the race.
Didn't do much warmup besides some intense stretching. Being my second tri, I still don't know how much energy I want to give up in a warmup. I'll have to play with this next season! Started at 10:34 am! It was great being about to watch the other waves start and finish.
