Pre-race routine:

Hit the elliptical to loosen up from yesterdays half marathon. Last night I was seriously doubting my ability to RUN a 5K. This morning I began to think I could make it through the 5K but RACING was a ridicoulous idea.

Background on how I got myself into the craziness of 2 races on weekend...I had already signed up for Tyrannea when I was asked if I wanted to do Jingle Bell as part of the Performance Running Outfitters team (I already run with PRO). They take the top 5 times from each team and a plaque goes to the winning team. So I thought (this is late September) sure why not! Little did I know that I would actually race the half yesterday and be in a lot of pain today.
Event warmup:

Zero zip nada. Walk to the start and jump around a little

Comments:

Not quite sure what happened. I just started running and started passing people. First mile caught up with some of the PRO guys. 2nd mile passed a PRO team girl (who I knew was fast). Kept pace and saw that I was going to beat 20 minutes which I had set as my "there is no way I can do this" goal and kicked it in. Just like yesterday I had no idea where I was place wise. I am not a 5Ker so to get 3rd was terrific. Unfortuatly out team got 2nd to Rodiezs.
What would you do differently?:

Not run a half marathon the day before ;)

Actually I don't think yesterdays race hurt my performance at all today. I ran this race all out but a smart all out.

Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and chatted a bit - went to the Peck center and found out I should stick around for the awards since I was getting one.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

???

Event comments:

This was going to be my last race of 2009 but now I am going to do a couple more in the RACC series.

I have to say that I have had the best year. I hit PRs in every distance I do including today's. I had some great advice running wise this year and some great running partners. Without them I could never have done this well.
