Swim
Comments: i knew going into the race that swimming was going to be a huge hassle for me. I have been training hard and have built a solid base, but i have awful navigation, and it really hurt my time. I was atleast twenty five yards outside of each bouy, it was ugly. I bumped into a couple of people in front of me, didnt really try to draft ( nobody around to draft off of?) uggghhh....BUT!!! it was my first race, and has left me a lot of room for improvement. What would you do differently?: Learn to bilaterlly breath. sight a little better. my right arm pull is much more efficeient/powerful than my left, causing me to swim to the left..... I should probably fix that Transition 1
Comments: first transition not to bad, had a little trouble with the wetsuit, but again, is my first race, so i know know what to expect, and can adjust for future races. after running the bike out of the transition , i had trouble clicking into my pedals. next time i need to relax a bit more and focus on getting into my pedals. chowed down an a powergel (strawberry banana is yummy!!) and took off on the bike What would you do differently?: go sockless??? clip in shoes??? Ill try them next season for sure. Bike
Comments: Passed alot of people, was only passed by about 6 or so. I have come to the conclusion that im a masher, somthing i need to fix. kept going back and forth with a couple of people. What would you do differently?: go faster. only fifeen mile race, i could have hit it a little harder, but i wasn't sure as to how to pace myself. Transition 2
Comments: smooth transition, dont know how it could have gone much better What would you do differently?: nothin that i can think of Run
Comments: run went well, could have gone a little faster. wasn't passed. 31st overall run place. one of the guys i passed with about 1 mile left passed me with about 400 meters left. So i stuck on his tale and we sprint to the finish. the finish line was only one person wide, so i let him slip through ahead of me (he wasnt in my agegroup anyway) What would you do differently?: dont let that guy beat me!! better, quicker pace Post race
Warm down: water, talked to gf ate lunch, relaxed.... What limited your ability to perform faster: not being able to pace myself so that i exert the most amount of energy and fastest possible time. Event comments: great race late in the season..... hope to do it again next year and win!!!!!!! Last updated: 2005-10-03 12:00 AM

This was my first ever tri, and slept suprisingly well. at bed by 11:30, up at 5:30. Had a cup of coffee, went through last minute pack list before race, left by 6:15, arrived by 7:15. My goal for the race was to simply not finish last!!
Ate a clif bar, drank about 12 ounces of gatorade endurance and 12 ounces of water. went on quick run, about 20 minutes of stretching, talked to my girlfriend and finally mentally prepped myself for the race. This invloved mapping out each transition route and routine. Said a quick prayer for safety and speed, then began my journey to the swim start.
