Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, ate a turkey and biscuit sandwich, with coffee, drove to sight, finished setting up my T1 and tried to stay warm. My mind set was to just beat last year's time.
Event warmup:

Simple running drills
Swim
  • 37m 44s
  • 1931 meters
  • 01m 57s / 100 meters
Comments:

Very choppy water, given the conditions, I am pretty happy with the swim. I got of course once. I don't think it was by much, so I don't think it effected my time much. I did get a leak in my left side of goggles due to someone's foot.
What would you do differently?:

Little better sighting
Transition 1
  • 03m 34s
Comments:

I used strippers! That was worth the entire race. Considering I meant to take my time, this time was better than expected
Bike
  • 2h 43m 27s
  • 56 miles
  • 20.56 mile/hr
Comments:

I wanted to ride in under 2:45, so mission accomplished. I finished an entire 10 minutes faster than last year. I drank a little to much while on the bike though. The best thing about this ride was keeping my cadence under control!
What would you do differently?:

Not drink as much
Transition 2
  • 05m 24s
Comments:

I totally spaced and forgot to take my feet out of my shoes, so the dsmount line caught me off guard and I had to unclip and run with my bike shoes. So, my plan was take a nice relaxing T2, no hurry, so I did not hurry whats so over!
What would you do differently?:

Maybe rush a little.
Run
  • 2h 12m 25s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

My worst event. Though I ran 30 minutes faster than last year. My goal was complete the course in under 2 hours. The first mile marker I hit at 8:30, then my time started slipping about 20 seconds every mile until mile 7. At that point I could not mentally block my impending doom of the porta-potty. I had to deal with some runner's trots for a few minutes. Now, I could use the following as a victory or failure, I survived the diarrhea and managed to fight off really bad leg cramping and still finish the race, or I can say my bathroom visit is what cost my my 12 minutes.
What would you do differently?:

I am not sure, I have to say my run disappointment had more to do with nutrition than being physically fit.
Post race
Warm down:

Died! Said hi to my friends, drank some water, ate two tacos, half a bottle of water and left.

In all, much better performance this year than last. Improved on the bike and run!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still trying to figure out the correct nutrition balance

Event comments:

I love this race!
