Run
Comments: I ran this as a training race for Woodside 50k, so my goal was to have fun, enjoy the scenery, and take it easy. I did all three! It is a beautiful marathon course! Lots of fun running over the dam and along the river. The only part of the course that wasn't great was the section along Highway 84... semi trucks flying by at 70 mph is a bit nerve wracking, especially in the last 8 miles of a marathon. It was a small local race and there were many times when I was all alone on the course, but I enjoy the solitude and the course was very well marked. The aid stations were fun since each one had different assorted candies and treats. The Girl Scouts even sponsored one that was stocked with various Girl Scout Cookies. Although I have to say, cookies just don't taste that great while running. I had fun taking my time and enjoying the smorgasbord along the way. I felt strong throughout and kept my pace relaxed. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: Walked a bit, and grabbed a bottle of water. A girl who had run the half marathon came up to me and told me I had inspired her to do the full next year, since our paces were about the same. That was cool. What limited your ability to perform faster: Treating this as a training race. Event comments: I would have given it a 5 except for the section along the highway. It's really pretty dangerous to have tired marathoners running along this stretch. Last updated: 2009-10-19 12:00 AM

Went to Thai Ploy for dinner and had Mango Fried Rice. Went to bed around 9pm and slept pretty good, only woke up twice to look at the clock. Got up at 5am and ate waffles with almond butter and agave syrup. Got my gear together and drove the hour to Umatilla.
Visited the Port-a-potty and sat in the car to stay warm until 15 minutes until the start. Then walked to the starting area.
