Pre-race routine:

Single pack of oatmeal after waking up, met up with two friends also doing the race and carpooled the hour or so to the race site.
Event warmup:

Forgot my cycling computer in the truck, ran the 1/2 mile there got the unit then ran back easy. Put the computer on the bike then it was time to line up for the swim.

I have had a couple good (relative to me) time trials the past few weeks at this distance. I swam several in the 3:30's. Still wondering what went wrong during the race. Was passed on the 4th lap by one person and I passed one during the last lap. This is my weakest discipline. Going to try and seek out some help during the off season. Usually no one that places ahead of me in the overall has a worse swim than I do, this race was no different.
What would you do differently?:

Hook up with someone who actually knows how to swim! Swim more?

Took a while for heart rate to drop from the swim. Head wind was pretty stiff going out on the first loop. Took quite a bit to keep it over 19 mph. Was aiming for 21.0 plus since I have avg. 21 for my last several races. Second loop went much better.

Lost some time here, volunteers hollering to run to the back of transisiton. I ran all the way to the back and all the way back to my rack which was front left. I thought that they didn't want anyone cutting across isles. Maybe the didn't, but as I was leaving T2 I saw nearly everyone cutting across instead of going all the way back and looping around like I did. My fault, next time I will make sure what is desired by the officials before the gun.

Feet were cold and numb after comming off the bike. Took a good while to warm them up. Hit first mile around 7:16. Was aiming for around 7 flat. Hit second mile avg. 7:12, picked up the pace until finish line. Was never passed on the run, and caught several people.
What would you do differently?:

Start my kick earlier, positive that I could have ran under 7 pace for this distance. Felt I left a little in the tank after crossing.

Event comments:

This was my one year anniversary of doing tris. This was my first tri last year on Oct. 25. Finished around 6 minutes faster this year. Highest overall finish at any race I've done yet, 10th overall individual out of 205. Also third AG medal this year. Good way to finish a positive year, looking forward to next season already.
