Pre-race routine:

Nothing special. Up early, coffee, almond butter on low carb bread.
Event warmup:

Parked at the finish which was about 1.5 miles from the start. Jogged to the start then stretched while waiting for race start.

Decided to pace using my HR rather than RPE. Felt pretty good for the entire race and kept HR around 167 average.
What would you do differently?:

Perhaps I could have pushed a little harder. I think I can sustain closer to 170 HR and still maintain comfort. Pushed my pace up to 7.5 minute miles for the last mile with enough in the tank for an all out sprint to the finish.

Too much gas left in the tank at the end made me think I could have possibly paced out closer to 8:15 rather than 8:50.

Next time I guess.

Warm down:

Power Aid...yuck. A couple of drinks and I was sick from all of the sugar in it. Found the water station and switched to water. Nice stretch and then hung out with my brother for a bit.

Event comments:

First run in my new Asics Nimbus 11's. I love them! No pain or discomfort in knees or outsides of feet.
