Swim
Comments: Awesome swim course, mixed with some underwater plants What would you do differently?: Bring a wetsuit next time. I swam in my 2ZU tri suit just fine, but was a little cold before the race began. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Rolling hills,Texas hill country. Watch out for the potholes. What would you do differently?: Train harder, adding more mileage. Although I took a minute off my time from last year, the bike mileage during training wasn't all present. I think my longest bike ride was 40 miles during training, which wasn't sufficient enough to drastically reduce my overall bike time. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Felt good, in control, cruising the first 7 miles, but stomach was cramping from food/drinks from bike leg, may have drank too much on the last bit of the bike course. The last 6 were not so great. What would you do differently?: Train more, increase the mileage, similar to the bike comments. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Slept very little the night before. Possibly schedule another day as a buffer to get used to the 5 hour time zone change, and sleep a little more. Event comments: this is my second consecutive Longhorn Ironman 70.3. Powerbar, Amino vital, powergel morning of. I took a powergel 15 minutes prior to the start. Felt awake and ready to race.
