Pre-race routine:

Got plenty of sleep and hyper hydrated the day before.
Event warmup:

Walked a half mile to the starting line. Then stood around in the cold for a half hour until the race began.

Comments:

Felt good during the race and just took it all in. The crowds cheering were awesome and really motivating. Around mile 17 I began to get a sore right foot which really slowed me down. I kept telling myself to just make it to mile 20 and I would stop for quick break. Once I got there the foot pain had worked itself out and I kept on going until mile 24. I then had to stretch for a few seconds because my hamstrings got tight. After I stretched my left knee immediately began to hurt. I knew I was close so I just ran through the pain to the finish line. As I turned down the final stretch strangers kept yelling my name in encouragement. A sudden rush of happiness came over me and I got a little teary eyed. I then crossed the finish line and the announcer said "Congratulations David, you just completed 26.2 miles!" Wow, what a feeling!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a few doughnuts, a banana, and some water and milk. Then I met my wife and stretched for a minute.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I could have trained at a faster pace.

Great race and very organized.
