Woke up at 5, took a quick shower and began the breakfast eating process. Breakfast consisted of the usual peanut butter toast, a powerbar, some coffee, and gatorade. Packed up the car and headed on down to Racine!
Event warmup:

Spent some time stretching and jogged around a little bit. Met up with some donkeys and got ready to race

Comments:

Well seeing as how this was my first half marathon I was pretty pleased with how the race went! I began running with jmeserole (Josh) and chatted a bit during the first mile or so. We planned on keeping between a 9 and 10 min/mile pace. Well that pace was maintained for about the first 5 miles, after that it slowed down a bit. At about mile 6 I took a gel, and again at about mile 9. At every aid station, I drank a water and gatorade. I began cramping a little bit around mile 10 and it got progressively worse for the last 5k. Another thing which made the run interesting was the 20 mph gusts which seemed to always be in your face.
What would you do differently?:

Train more!! I was definitely undertrained for the run
Post race
Warm down:

got some water and some gatorade, ate a little and stretched.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of longer run training

Event comments:

overall a great race! I will probably do it again next year!
