Run
Comments: The run felt good, it was tough to get up to speed having started in the last coral, I had to weave my way through a lot of walker and people that were slower than me. After about 5 mile I started to feel a grove and then plowed forward at an hour and half, I took a gel and then at 15 and 19. My legs started hurting around mile 18 and the last 4 miles were brutal but was able to push forward only stopping to walk for about 50 yards at mile 23. This was the longest run I have ever done and at the end of the race, began to feel very emotional. A 20 year dream came true and it was the perfect race to do it at, although it was pretty chilly. What would you do differently?: Not a thing. So happy with this race. Post race
Warm down: Not much, got my medal, picture and some powerade and headed to the car, which took about 15 minutes to find. Always remember to write down where you park. Too cold to wonder around. What limited your ability to perform faster: A huge race and starting in the back. Event comments: Nothing bad to say except this race is huge with 16000 finishers, some areas get narrowed down as you enter the parks, so congestion happens. I almost accidently tackled a guy for stopping in front of me in the last mile of the race, I just couldn't move around him, luckily I was able to slow down enough to avoid the accident, but it took a lot of energy I didn't have. Woke up at 2:30 to get ready. Ate breakfast of Oatmeal and Orange Juice and got dressed for the race. Drive an hour to Disney.
Not much of a warm up, light stretching but mostly talking to others. Probably a mile walk from the baggage check to the start line.
