Pre-race routine:

Coffee, bowl of serial and a pb&j sandwhich
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 35h 37m 38s
  • 1925 yards
  • 1h 51m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

My Swimming is my best sport but I don't use my legs at all. I feel like i don't trust them to last for the bike and run much less adding the swimming to the beginning of that.
What would you do differently?:

I need to learn to go straighter and draft better for sure. Sometimes it rough but this was one of the better marked swim events I've been to and i shouldn't have gotten off course as much as I did.
Transition 1
  • 04m 46s
Comments:

I ate 1/2 of a PB&J sandwich during each transition. I can't say that I enjoyed it that much cause my mouth was just so dry luckily I had water ready.

The wetsuit strippers were awesome. My first time using them but they knew what they were doing :D
What would you do differently?:

Tie my shoe up so it doesn't drag on the ground.
Bike
  • 2h 55m 23s
  • 56 miles
  • 19.16 mile/hr
Comments:

I like the bike portion of any triathlon the best it always feels like I'm flying and I just enjoy the wind in my face.

I feel like I should have had a higher cadence but it didn't feel too bad. My pace was pretty good and kept it up until the end. I'm pretty strong on the hills. Early on people I pass on the hills always pass me on the downhill or the flat but later on I seem to out pace them.

What would you do differently?:

I tried to take a couple of corners to sharply and took a spill luckily i was going slow enough to where I only scraped myself up and my brake just a bit but man that was a sharp turn. When they have 5 signs and 2 cop cars and I see two wrecked bikes I will go walking pace!!

I think I carried too much water this time. I had a camel back with water and 2 bottles with gatorade. It was so easy to drink from the camel back I didn't any gatorade and probably hurt my run because I didn't have enough electrolytes. Next time I'm going to fill my camel back with gatorade :P

I want to push into the 20+ mph on the bike but not sure what I can to in order to do this other than just strengthen my legs.
Transition 2
  • 07m 16s
Comments:

Legs felt a little mushy and I started on another PB&J. My mouth had trouble choking this one down blah. I'm not really sure when the run started I passed over about 3 potential run starting timers but oh well.
What would you do differently?:

Next time I'll pack some electrolytes and take those during this transition instead of a PB&J. I was really hungry though so I might try eating something else during this transition that's not as difficult to chew.
Run
  • 2h 36m 40s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Started the run and walked within the first mile. Had a huge charlie Horse in my right quad that forced me to stop. I'm thinking I should have stretched before I started running.

I would start up and stop to walk every the Charlie horses would come back. It wasn't until the 3rd lap when I jogged more than I walked.
What would you do differently?:

I would definitely stretch before I start the run and probably didn't get enough electrolytes after I talked to a friend of mine. Really need to start doing more bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

None

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My running and possibly nutrition

Event comments:

I was surprised at how bad the after event food was. Maybe all the good stuff was taken by the people finishing first but all i saw were the bad taco's and a baked potato. I expected more for the crazy high fees.
