Pre-race routine:

woke up, had a coffee and a few power bars. Drank two bottles of water and a gatorade to get hydrated.

Event warmup:

Had a long wait until my wave went off. Mostly hung around. Did a little swimming.

Comments:

The swim felt great. I was a little nervous doing a mile with no wetsuit and no current (last year I did NYC and had benefit of strong current). I felt strong throughout. Only problem was that the last part of the swim was into the sun and I had trouble navigating.

Due to the heat, the run was a sufferfest, plain and simple. Like everyone else, I walked and ran.

Warm down:

Went to the Mist tent, got cold towels.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I felt great during the swim, but I felt like I could have trained more for the bike. The run was terrible due to the heat -- not much I could do about that.

Event comments:

The event was well-organized, and there was plenty of water stations during the run. It was agood race.
