Swim
Comments: Wow what a difference putting in more time at the pool and a slight stroke tweak can make. I gotta thank my pool buddies for their suggestions in modifying my stroke. This was my fastest swim since the Lavaman Tri in March. I actually passed some people and got some good drafts. What would you do differently?: Just keep putting in the time and distance in the water. Continue to improve my stroke. Transition 1
Comments: Okay transition. Could have been a few seconds faster, but I'm not complaining. What would you do differently?: Find a way to set up my transition area a little better to shave those precious seconds. Bike
Comments: I was happier with this bike leg than those of my last couple tris. This wasn't anywhere near my fastest bike split, but it felt satisfying trying to power through the strong headwinds and pushing a bigger gear whenever a tailwind presented itself. What would you do differently?: Time, distance, and speedwork in the offseason. I'm generally pleased with where I usually end up overall on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Again I could have been quicker here. Lost some time getting the shoes and cap out of the trashbag they gave us to put our run gear in for the separate transition area. What would you do differently?: Will probably start going sockless for these shorter runs. Run
Comments: So I was hoping to go sub 10min miles for this run. Didn't happen, but not too disappointed. I took in too much fluid on the bike and it was sloshing around for the first half of the run. Did the first mile in about 13 minutes which included the first hill. Once the stomach settled, I picked up my pace and only walked the steep second hill. What would you do differently?: Hill work. I need to take advantage of the terrain where I live and charge up and down the hills around my house. Post race
Warm down: Had a drink of water and ate a banana. Got my bike out of b/r transition and rode back to the s/b transition area to pick up my things and load them into the car. Headed back to the awards ceremony and checked my results. Congratulated Mike and Jim on their hardware. What limited your ability to perform faster: Slower than expected run due to too much liquids on the bike leg. Event comments: This was my birthday race (birthday on 11/4 and my first triathlon last year) and therefore my benchmark. I wanted to see just how much I improved over last year. 20:51 improvement! I was much faster in all three legs. I chopped off 3:26 in the swim and another 5:16 on the bike. My biggest improvement came on the run where I took off 10:37 from the year before (about 3:22 per mile). Last updated: 2009-11-01 12:00 AM

Ate some oatmeal and had a sports drink before loading up the car and heading over to MCBH.
Walked around and used the port-o-potty a couple times. Stretched for a few minutes. Talked to my fellow rack-mates and a couple of fellow BTers.
