Comments:

Was going to try and keep 7:15 Min/mile pace throughout. Went out at a comfortable pace, actually thought I was going to slow, but I didn;t want to overdue it early knowing he challenging hills that lied ahead. Got the first mile marker at 6:20....ooops. Slowed down a bit...I knew I couldn't keep that pace, especially considering tghe challenging course. My second mile was right about 7:05, so I was getting closer to my mark. I felt comfortable at this pace so I didn't try to go any slower. My 3rd mile was about 7:15, still felt pretty good. Came in at 28:05 at mile 4, so my 4th mile was about 7:25 4th mile. Started to feel a little labored. The 5th mile ended at the top of a pretty good climb. Don;t remember my split, on this mile, but the hill really slowed me down. This mile was probably in the 8:00 mile range. One more hill to climb on the 6th mile and then a down hill to finish up. I had a good kick at the end to come in at 45:14. My goal was 45 min. to 46 min. , so I met the goal. I did this same course back in April for a finish time of 50:53, so I bested that by almost 6 minutes. The training has definitely paid off.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, except maybe start off a little bit slower. But the pace felt comfortable, so without that start, who knows my time might have been slower???
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched. Drank some water. Ate a banana and an apple. Waited around for awards. My wife got 2nd place in her age group. She beat her time by about 5:00 from last April as well! Based off of last year's results, I though I might have had a chance at placing, but the field was incredibly fast this year. The guy who won my age group, finished ion the 36:00 range. Shoot, even 3rd plaace came in around 41:00....so i wasn;t even close. Oh well, still a successful race for me. Maybe I can better my time by another 5 minutes next year.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I've only been competitively running for about 10 months. I did my first ever race (5K) last February. I feel I am moving along quite nicely for the time that I have been training.

Event comments:

Good race. Beautiful course. Challenging hills. Organized. Fun. What more could you ask for.
