Swim
Comments: swam in water before race start, relaxed, breathing evenly, treading water, floating, all good. waited for others to start, breast stroked a little, started freestyle - -okay for 50 yards, then inhaled water, could not get breathing under control - - breast stroked and bobbed in water to regulate breathing, once breathing regular, started freestyle - - excellent finish - - strong and steady, others were started to panic, tread water, stop, - I was going good. Great Finish - wish I had done this the whole way!! What would you do differently?: breathe easily the whole time. Transition 1
Comments: Great transition - - no time wasted - - What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Even though I rode this course for practice and knew about the hills. I still had a hard time getting over them. The downhills are awesome; used some higher gears for a lot of the time, wet roads no problem - passed a LOT of folks and had a LOT of 30-40 year olds pass me - which THAT is okay - since they're not in MY age group. - - according to my bike computer my max speed was 37.8 mph - - it was awesome!!!! What would you do differently?: practice for hills - ride more - ride stronger (don't have a tough workout the week of your race!!!) Transition 2
Comments: Great transition - - - What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: good brick from bike to run - no cramping - good pacing - not too fast - first couple hills were good, started to get tired and sore in legs, did not drink water at T2 (very good) no stitch in my side (excellent!). Kept steady pace and poured water over my head and in my face at every opportunity. Took a gel on the way back from the turn around and drank a few sips of water to get me to the end. Had to walk a few times on the hills - but kept running - finished strong - was hoping my run was better than it turned out to be. What would you do differently?: practice running more and at a faster pace (don't do tough strides the week of your race!!) Post race
Warm down: walk slowly- - put lots of cold water on my neck, head, chest - cool down, left early with Adrian (why does he always want to leave sooo soon???) What limited your ability to perform faster: bike strength and running on hills Event comments: Loved this race - - also the practice session was excellent. Very well organized, lots of high energy and positive enthusiasm. Wish I could ride better, but still performed very well and happy about my race times. Last updated: 2009-11-03 12:00 AM

stretch, walk, stetch legs; legs a tiny bit sore from workouts on Tues and Thursday (probably should have eased up a LOT more)
