Swim
Comments: My first pool tri, there is a lot of waiting for waves (waves started at 8:30 and finished at 11am). Very well organized though. I swam about 7 times all winter (closest pool is 75 min away from me) and predicted it would take me 13 minutes. What would you do differently?: Train better for the swim - by that I mean when I train, focus on endurance more, keeping technique in mind. Transition 1
Comments: T1 went well. A not too long run outside to T1 from pool. I was tired from the swim, but ran out of the pool area and to T area. It was cool and rainy, I wore a rain coat. For the first transition of the season, it wasn't bad. What would you do differently?: Be more methodical about getting dressed. This was a longer T1 than usual for me. Bike
Comments: I feel I did mediocre on this leg of the tri. I know I was tired from the swim, so that was part of it at least at the start. By the time I felt I was getting my legs under me, I was more than halfway through the course. Awesome volunteers. What would you do differently?: Not sure what went wrong here, I expected to be under 40 minutes on this. I think that it took me a while to recover from the swim, so it comes back to more swim training. Transition 2
Comments: I was a bit slow here, but I took of my rain jacket and threw on a long sleeved top and a hat. Overall, I did OK. What would you do differently?: I need to get speed laces Run
Comments: I didn't get that brick feeling here, which is good. This is a slower than normal time for me on the run. I have a strained calf muscle that has been giving me grief for a few months. It hurt on this run, I took it fairly easy. I hope it heals soon because it is driving me bonkers. What would you do differently?: Besides having a healthy calf, I don't think I would change much. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of swim fitness and strained calf. Maybe I wasn't mentally into it as much as I should have been with a marathon coming up next weekend. Event comments: This is a good race and was well organized. I am not a fan of pool tris, but as I said, it is very well run. Last updated: 2009-11-06 12:00 AM

Ate a bagel, drank water, walked around and talked to folks.
This was weird because I had never done a pool tri before. After watching the first 3 waves swim (I was wave 7) I stretched, walked around, and talked to folks.
