Swim
Comments: A great swim for me despite the wetsuit and current. What would you do differently?: Not much Transition 1
Comments: Long run from water to transition area. Used wetsuit puller but she was a little weak on the effort. Raining pretty hard. Put on shoes and helmet and should have left glasses behind. Drank some Perpetum and had one bottle with me. Bike
Comments: A good ride. Felt comfortable at the end. What would you do differently?: Not much. Maybe had 2 more gels in the last hour. Transition 2
Comments: Took my time drying my feet and putting on socks and shoes. Trying to avoid blisters. Used blister shield powder in socks and shoes. Run
Comments: Pulled my left calf muscle at mile 4 and that just killed my speed. Went to a Galloway method of running 3 minutes and walking 1 min. after that to manage the pain and damage. Still raced it in for the last half mile. Also developed a hot spot on left ball of foot. What would you do differently?: Stick with the plan and not overtrain 2 weeks out from race. Post race
Warm down: Walked around expo. Put ice on calf muscle. Sat down and had 2 slices of pizza and a beer. Saw a few friends and limped onto bus back to t area to collect gear. What limited your ability to perform faster: Uneven training to plan for past 3 weeks due to travel. Leg calf pain. Event comments: The volunteers were fantastic especially in the rain. I was disappointed at the quality of the race planning and administration for an Ironman 70.3 event!!! For example; poor check in registration process (1 hour in line before USAT verification), poor day bag retrieval, parking and traffic was uncoordinated. I will do this event again if they get their act together Last updated: 2009-11-07 12:00 AM

Up at 5, a little coffee on way to parking somewhere near finish area. Had to take a bus to transition area and then to swim start.
Just some stretching. Nowhere to run or swim with this crowd.
