Run
Comments: I felt as good I could expect to while training during a very tough fall travel season (I recruit for a college). I had a few knee pains during mile 8 and mile 22, but they subsided after I rubbed it and kept running. What would you do differently?: I would train more. 3x per week may have been too little. I would choose a different run partner. Long story short- we decided to cross the finish line together- she ran ahead of me at the end and went back on her word. It's upsetting that this tarnished my first marathon experience. Post race
Warm down: Walked a bit, but had a hard time breathing as my sports-induced asthma kicked in for the first time in years. Stretched a ton and iced down both knees as a precaution. What limited your ability to perform faster: My training. I could have trained more. I did skip an 18 miler on a fairly critical weekend about 5 weeks out, but I also needed a mental and physical break at the time. Event comments: Great race even for a first timer. I would consider doing it again, but want to try a different marathon if I run another. Last updated: 2009-11-08 12:00 AM

Lots of hydration the week before the race. Slept well the entire week and especially the night before. I do not carb load, but did eat good proteins and fresh veggies as much as I could while traveling for work.
Walked to race start and did a few nervous stretches. It was too crowded to get in a pre-race run and my run partner was a little distracted with finding friends.
