Pre-race routine:

Wake up at 3 AM and had trouble sleeping after that. Drank a smoothie to get some energy for later.
Wake at 5 AM. Lotion, Lube and gear. Check transition bag.
Eat peanut butter and saltine crackers.
Event warmup:

Walk around saying hi to friends.
Get on wetsuit and swim a little to get the feel.
Swim
  • 37m 24s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was a new suit. Felt nice to float. Happy I had long john style, not full arms.
Had trouble staying straight.
Goggles were leaking and then I got bunched up at first bouy and swallowed a ton of water. Settled down after and had a good swim.
What would you do differently?:

Work on my sighting.
Transition 1
  • 03m 50s
Comments:

Wetsuit strippers helped. It was a LONG run from the swim to Transition, and I had a crappy Transition spot. Overall, I felt good. Had shoes clipped to pedals so that helped.
What would you do differently?:

No Much.
Bike
  • 3h 09m 56s
  • 56 miles
  • 17.69 mile/hr
Comments:

WOW. It was windy. I had ridden some of these roads before on the MS 150, but when we went into the headwind, it was brutal. I did manage to get some time with a tailwind though, and was going 25-27 for a while. I think that helped.
It was sucking to go 11-12 MPH for some of it.
My seat came loose and was pointed up too far, making it hard to sit comfortably.
I was sore from being in Aero at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Ride more. Practice more long bricks.
Transition 2
  • 03m 52s
Comments:

Was beat, so I walked through transition. As I said, bad racking spot, but the walk helped loosen me up. Shoes, visor and belt on, and I was feeling OK.
What would you do differently?:

Jog a little...
Run
  • 2h 38m 17s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

I SUCK! I ran out of energy AGAIN! I was working hard on th ebike to take in food, but I think I need better choices.
What would you do differently?:

Eat more/better on ride.
Post race
Warm down:

Drink water and walk around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think it was a combination of not enough food, or maybe not enough rest. Muscles felt good, but I found it hard to run.

Event comments:

Great race. I am thinking of doing it again. Need to figure out my fueling. I KNOW I can run faster at the end.
